When a payment is issued to a member, Panorama sends an email notification. A detailed report is also available for download on the Octave portal, under the "My Distributions" section. This report provides a breakdown of each tariff paid, by sound recording and/or music video. For any specific questions regarding payments, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Member Services.
When sound recordings and/or music videos are declared on the Octave portal, Panorama ensures that all retroactively collectible royalties are recovered. However, royalties from broadcasts beyond a certain number of years may have already been closed, depending on usage and territories. Typically, it is possible to recover royalties from the past 3 to 4 years.
Royalties paid to members are not subject to sales tax but are considered taxable income. To this end, annual tax statements are issued and made available for download through the member portal. If you require tax statements from previous years that are no longer accessible on the portal, you may contact Member Services for assistance.
For any questions regarding the taxation of royalties or the annual deduction of copyright-related income, we invite you to contact the Canada Revenue Agency or the relevant provincial revenue agency.
