Who can join?

Panorama is open to all makers and copyright holders of sound recordings and music videos.

Learn more

The maker is the entity responsible for carrying out the operations necessary for the initial fixation of sounds onto a medium, such as the master recording. This role involves overseeing the administrative, financial, and organizational aspects of the fixation process. The maker is responsible for negotiating contracts with artists and performers, financing the production, and managing technical requirements, including studio arrangements, direction, and technical staff. Additionally, the maker assumes the financial risk associated with the production and holds ownership of the master recording.

The Copyright Act specifies that the ownership of a sound recording, along with the copyright attached to it, can be transferred. The purchaser thus becomes the new rights holder.
